Our Story

Lotus Educational Psychology was founded by co-founders Leela and Cece, Licensed Educational Psychologists who share a deep commitment to supporting students and families. They met while working together in public schools in the Bay Area, where they quickly recognized how naturally their approaches complemented one another.

Through their work with students, families, and school teams, they saw how often families were left with unanswered questions or limited time to fully understand their child’s needs. They believed students deserved more thoughtful, comprehensive assessments and clear guidance that could truly support growth.

Lotus Educational Psychology was created to provide that level of care. By combining their experience and complementary expertise, Leela and Cece offer comprehensive assessments, therapy, and consultation services grounded in both clinical knowledge and real-world school experience.

The name Lotus reflects their shared philosophy: growth, resilience, and the belief that every child can thrive when given the right insight, guidance, and support.

Meet The Team

Cece Castignani

Cece is a Licensed Educational Psychologist with 10 years of experience supporting children and adolescents across a wide range of learning and developmental needs. In addition to her work in schools, she has served as a graduate instructor in the School Psychology program at California State University, East Bay, where she trained future school psychologists in assessment practices. She holds a Master of Science in Counseling with a specialization in School Psychology, an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology, and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. She is also licensed in California as an Educational Psychologist. Cece is known for her ability to build strong, authentic connections with students and families, creating a sense of trust and ease while navigating complex challenges. She brings both clinical insight and a highly relational approach, helping others feel supported and understood throughout the process. Outside of work, Cece enjoys spending time with her family and recently welcomed her first child, a joyful and energetic baby girl. She enjoys exploring new restaurants in San Francisco, cooking at home, and traveling whenever possible.

Leela Silva

Leela is a Licensed Educational Psychologist with over 15 years of experience supporting students and families within public education. Her background includes roles as an education specialist, IEP coordinator, paraprofessional and school psychologist, giving her a comprehensive understanding of how to navigate and support within school systems. She holds a Master of Arts in School Psychology, an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology, and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. She is also licensed in California as an Educational Psychologist. Leela is known for her thoughtful, grounded approach and her ability to see the full picture of a child’s learning and development, bringing clarity and direction to complex situations. She creates a calm, supportive space where students and families feel understood and confident in next steps. Outside of her professional work, Leela enjoys spending time in nature, including hiking, camping, and exploring parks and beaches with her border collie. She also enjoys yoga, live music, and traveling.
